I have fun in World of Warcraft, even if the world works on mind
Despite everything that happens at Blizzard undWorld of Warcraft, CORTYN is still fun on MMORPG WOW. But is that okay?
For Blizzard fans and players from World of Warcraft, the last few days were hard. Of course, not as hard as hard as for the affected employees of the sexism scandal at Blizzard. Nevertheless, it is currently not easy to enjoy the fun in World of Warcraft.
There are currently two points decisive. Both have been discussed very much in recent days, but I still want to pick them up again.
The sexism scandal floats over everything
Probably the largest and clearly important point are the current investigations and revelations around sexism and discrimination against Blizzard. The corporate culture there must be a real catastrophe that treats women like free game and make equal opportunities at most on paper, but not in everyday life.
To make this very clear: I find these explanations extremely important and every single contamination that comes to daylight is disgusting and deserves it yet to be heard so that something is avoided in the future and the perpetrators get their fair punishment.
I found the strike and the demands of the Blizzard employees well and hope they are implemented. At the same time, the players also organized a kind of "strike": Many WoW players are logged out on my Realm at the same time at 19:00, to show solidarity with the strikers. Others have just been in Oribos "in the Schlund" by the same time, also as a sign.
That too, too, I found a good thing as a good thing and a way to set a sign if you want to do any activity.
But as so often, when people use for one thing, that will also quickly become the possibility to profile. To exactly 19:04 o'clock I was written by someone from my Battle.net list, why I was not logged out. I was asked if I would not care about the suffering of the staff. Of course that was not it, but I also think a "simultaneous logout" just not for a meaningful means to set a sign or move something. I do not want to announce anyone to participate in it and sometimes helps a feeling, just to do "anything".
I believe in my position at Meinmmo, where I (and other authors) report on such incidents, I'm alone by reporting in the meanwhile more than a dozen articles that the topic is generating and pressure creates.
Here are a number of articles to the big blizzard scandal:
- Wow reacts - all allusions to developer Afrasiabi were removed from the game
- 10 years old video will be fatal to the Blizzard boss
- "Cocaine on the toilet, sex in the lounge" - the blizzard scandal escalated
Such incidents that active players are attacked that they still play WOW, I experience in the last few days and weeks again and again. Not only in the game, including in sub -peddit and on YouTube. The players start to tackle with each other. There's fast "Everyone who plays the game still, brain tot" or a "cow, who does not realize that she is milked", because "fun has been fun for a long time, only none of the additives can admit".
Here is my problem: I have fun at the game. Also, despite the incidents at Blizzard, World of Warcraft continues to be a game that I enjoy. A game that was not only created by the sadters of the scandal, but also of the numerous sacrifices that meet their dream in the video game industry.
I have fun and will continue to have fun and yet I can condemn the incidents at Blizzard.
Everything is hated and all are professional authors
The second point does not have such a scope as the Blizzard scandal, but bothers me personally but massive.
I like World of Warcraft. I like the game in the current state. I like the raids we had so far, I like the "mythical +" system, I have fun at the different pacts and also find patch 9.1 pretty good. Above all, I like the story very much, which I do not know how "poorly written" from WOW to Youtube or in the subreddit of WOW, but in widespread sharing as a consistent and comprehensible.
I like how Sylvanas has developed over the past 4 to 5 Cinematics, as their doubts slowly increases. As the doubt in conversation with Anduin begins to germinate, as she acts shocked for a moment when she learns that Nathanos is dead and keeps his soul hidden his soul in front of her. I liked like a "flashback" from their time as Arthas' slave, triggered by a single word of the Cheer Master, giving the final impetus that lets them rethink their decision.
And my environment also like that. Apparently, my guild and raid group is one of these special groupings that do not hate any story development as abysmal and scribes all five minutes, that you would find better authors in kindergarten.
If I talk to the guild or RAID group about the Cinematics, there is the same enthusiasm as with me. They like the development of the story, had goose bumps at the Cinematics and their experience is similarly positive as in my life. The latest part of the pact campaign was terrific funny, had great characters and a really nice finale with an appearance of Elune. I celebrated it. All in my direct WoW environment have celebrated it.
But you look at YouTube, obviously around 85% of people found the cinematic bad. So, as already the last cinematic. Or that before. Or that before.
I'm pretty sure I do not praise wow over the green clover. I also find some things not solved well. The rule splinters, I find extremely boring and unpierced, but darkens my fun only minimal. Maybe because I do not do so much for 1-2% performance, because I never want to raid mythically.
What I want to go out: If you have fun at the game, then enjoy it. If you have no fun at the game or believes that a boycott helps the person concerned - then it does not play. Sets signs you want to set. But do not condemn other players who still like World of Warcraft or other Blizzard games. Do not argue with people just because they do not participate in a "trailing protest". Listen on to make others enjoy the fun of Madig if you do not like a certain development of the story.
What I day after day in the sub -peddit, on Youtube but also sometimes with us in the commentary read, I think more and more difficult to understand. I would just want a little more objectivity and differentiation. I think that would do all good.
